Patrick Chiasson, MD, FACS
Dr. Chiasson is a board certified and fellowship trained Minimally Invasive Surgeon. He has expertise in advanced laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic procedures. His surgical practice is characterized by managing complex surgical diseases of the GI tract. Dr. Chiasson is recognized both in the Tucson, Arizona community and internationally for his surgical treatment of obesity. He performs all of the established primary and revision weight loss surgical procedures including the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Duodenal Switch, and Adjustable Gastric Band. He serves as an educational consultant for Ethicon Endosurgery teaching surgeons from around the country to perform the sleeve operation. Finally, he is the past president of the Arizona chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In addition, Dr. Chiasson is well known for his Minimally Invasive Surgical management of non-cancerous and cancerous conditions of the esophagus, stomach, colon, and rectum. He has long been acknowledged for his early adoption of both new techniques and technology in the surgical treatment of these diseases. As such, he has been the first surgeon in Southern Arizona to perform many new procedures such has laparoscopic/thoracoscopic esophagectomy, transanal endoscopic microsurgery, laparoscopic duodenal switch, etc. More recently, this has been highlighted by Dr. Chiasson being the first surgeon in Arizona to utilize the Transenterix Spider surgical system allowing him to safely perform single incision procedures.
Dr. Chiasson established the Surgical Weight Loss Program at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, AZ in 2002 and he recently opened and currently serves as the Bariatric Medical Director of the new Bariatric Surgery program at St. Mary's Hospital.
